American Airlines Finally Has Its New Uniforms Supplier

Could it be the American Airlines uniforms scandal is finally coming to an end? If so, we must admit, we won’t miss seeing the phrase “hives and rashes” in the news.

According to CNN Money, the airline announced yesterday that 51,000 airline workers will receive new uniforms in late 2019. As you know, the company’s last uniforms, unveiled in 2016, caused an array of allergic reactions leading the union to demand a recall.

While American Airlines and its supplier Twin Hill deemed the apparel safe after multiple lab tests, it seems the company still chose not to renew its contract with Twin Hill. Instead, the carrier is partnering with Lands’ End to design the new uniforms, with testing to begin October 2018.

“Now that the supplier is chosen, core members of the uniform committee and union leaders will shift their focus to fabric and color choices,” American said in a letter to team members on Tuesday.

Lands’ End is the uniform supplier for Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines, so the company has plenty of experience in this industry. Let’s hope these uniforms turn out more successful than the last batch.

No uniform previews have been unveiled yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated once they’re live.
